It's Caturday!

I can't help but want to talk about our cat.  I'm not sure why this is, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with mental manipulation by our alien, cat overlords.  That said, I've had this song bouncing through my head ever since I heard it again at the Grammy's.  So here is Chicago with "Saturday in the Park"!

And while you're listening, I figured I'd share a story with you about our cat, Gray.

You see, this past week, we had a fun incident with the cat.  John had stayed home from work on Wednesday, and while normally Gray would just go out for a little bit when only he and I are home, that particular day, he decided to stay out for a while.   Normally I leave the screen door open a little so that he can get in and out of the house easily without me having to monitor his needs.  (This is the usual routine for Gray and me, but mostly he just ends up coming upstairs and sleeping on the bed while I work on my blog.)

Later that day, John headed down to throw something out via the back door, and on his way back in, he saw a little yellow bird lying inside near the cat tree.  Then as he walked inside, he saw another larger blue bird lying on the carpet in the middle of the living room.  All the while, Gray was happily prancing about--as though he were trying to show us that he had finally provided for his pack mates.

Needless to say, it was not nearly as amazing to us as Gray seemed to think it should be.

But, you will be happy to know that we have decided to keep Gray in for a while during nesting season, and that the two birds were disposed of without incident; although, at the moment, Gray is lying on the bed and giving me a "look"--as if he knows I am writing about him.

All of which leads me to wonder if the cat is thinking something rather like this:

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
That said, I will leave you with some fun facts about kitties!  It only takes a few moments to read, and it will, I hope, be very enlightening.

Enjoy your Caturday, everyone!
