Another Monday Come

So last Friday I was in bed recovering from antibiotics.  But while I was doing my best to ignore the pain of a pill killing every last thing it could within me, I had a chance to read.  I happened to get through the last book of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy.  I have to admit that I am really blown away by his writing, and even though he doesn't do details all that well, his fight scenes and action scenes are absolutely lovely.  I also managed to get through the first book of the Divergent series, and I'll hopefully be able to compare it to the movie soon.  After reading Sanderson, Veronica Roth's writing seems a little lack-luster when it comes to fight scenes, but that doesn't mean that I didn't devour the book, either.  She, too, lacks a bit in the description department, but I find that her characters have some unexpected depth that I really like.  I haven't found myself cringing at the dialogue, and the idea of her strange, new world is really compelling.

All that said, if you haven't had a chance to read either of them, I would urge you to do so.

You can find out more about Brandon Sanderson here, and you can check out the Mistborn trilogy here.

To find out more about Veronica Roth, check out her website, and to find out more about her Divergent series, take a look here.  Of course, reading the criticisms of book three, I'm worried that I'll be let down by the time I get to it (which shouldn't be too much longer, as I'm working through book two now; I am enjoying it so far though.)

On Saturday John and I took a break from the rest of the world and headed to Sanctuary where we battled the forces of evil in Diablo III -- Reaper of Souls.

We had played the first part of Diablo III a while ago, and while it was kind of fun, it couldn't hold my attention for long.  I found a lot of the game difficult to play.  However, with all the changes in their expansion, I have to say that I'm kind of hooked.  The gameplay is a lot more fun; it's easier to figure out how to beat the mechanics, and the crusader class is just a blast.  I can't wait to get back to it.

But, today is the early play start to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls Online, and having just watched the introduction trailer, I'm super excited to get to playing the game.

I have always loved Tamriel ever since I played Morrowind; and the in-game books, the stories, and the world itself have called to me ever since.  That said, I have a bit of reading to do in order to figure out what's going on in the game; so, once I'm done here, I may spend a bit of time doing that.

If you're planning on playing and want to get in touch with me, feel free to poke me via private message here or on Facebook, and I'll add you to my friend list.

Hope your week shapes up to be as exciting as mine is, and I'll get back to you on all things Tamriel soon!
