I Love that Nathan Fillion and I Share March as a Birthday Month!

And it's true!  So he's an Aries and I'm a Pisces; it's still March!

But here's the cool thing about his birthday--it's this week on March 27th!  (And yes, before you ask, I know the above quote is incorrect--but doesn't it look awesome!  And also, what a great sentiment for Nathan's birthday!  And how awesome is it to be in the same company as Leonard Nimoy and Harrison Ford?)

Well, to celebrate his birthday, our favorite ship's captain is spearheading a campaign to bring clean water to the world--definitely heroic, and one of the many reasons I love him.  He's not only a great actor, but a wonderful human being.  So in honor of his birthday, I ask you to consider donating some money to this great cause, and if you need more convincing, here's a little video all about it.

And just because, here's a reprise of Mal from Castle--because it's just plain awesome.  The moment John and I saw this Halloween episode, we knew we were hooked on the show forever.

There are, of course, other heroes in our world today, but I want to mention one in particular--a young woman who is passionate about education and the need for it in our world.  Her name is Malala Yousafzai.  The first time I saw her was on the Colbert Report, and I couldn't believe some of the things she had to say--and some of the terrible things she's had to endure.

So I was excited to see a TED Talks today that came from her father, and I want to share it with you.  In his talk Ziauddin Yousafzai gives us a blunt look at societies in the Middle East--their culture and how overcoming cultural stigmas is not only important, but liberating for women--and men.  I urge you to take the time to listen to his talk.  I hope you will see how this, too, is a heroic struggle, and I hope that you will be changed by it.

Last, but certainly not least, I found a timeline of the World Wide Web over on the Pew Research Internet Project page.  It looks pretty neat so far, and I hope you'll take a look at it.  After all, the internet and the web have given rise to an age where heroes are only a click away, and our ability to become heroes is as limitless as our imaginations.
