Having One of "Those" Days

I am conflicted, and I can't find the right words to tell you all, in any coherent manner, why that's the case.  It has something to do with money, greed, beliefs, hypocrisy, propaganda, and a lot of other ideas that only somehow make sense in my head.  But when I try to put them here in this space, they sound clichéd and wrong.

So rather than leave you with a less-than-coherent, whimsical rant, I want to say something that I hope will make the most sense of it all that I can:

There is not a one-size-fits-all solution.

And then, just to make things complicated:

KISS -- Keep it simple, stupid.

Maybe you can figure out what I'm trying to say, and if not, I figured having a few fun pictures and a song thrown in for today wouldn't hurt.

This is a picture from Russia near the Volga that John's Dad took.  They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes I think it's more that a picture can bring something closer that seems far away from us.  It reminds us that there are similarities among the all differences.

I caught this a few days ago on Facebook.  I have mixed feelings about it.

Whatever it was, this seems like it was a pretty profound moment for Wil Wheaton.  I love the picture, though, because you can't really be sure what he's feeling here--dazed or saddened?   Confused or disappointed?  It's an amazing expression, and one I just couldn't pass up posting.

I think respecting the person you love is pretty important--be it a man or a woman.  And if you don't have that in a relationship, well,...I don't think it's love, then.

This is an absolutely amazing table and chair set inspired by the Lord of the Rings series.

John's Aunt Tricia took this picture on her urban adventure in downtown Los Angeles during the Chinese new year celebration.  This year was the year of the blue wooden horse,...or maybe it's a green wooden horse?

I caught this on my step-brother's Facebook page a while back, and I thought it was pretty funny.  Listening to my dad tell stories from his time in the Marines, you can tell there's a lot of rivalry between the different areas of our military, but I think that's a good thing--both sides pushing one another to do and be better.  So this one's for all you Marines out there.

Another Facebook find--I felt really bad for this bull dog on Mardi Gras.  Dog doesn't seem to be minding it too much, though.

I found these two on Facebook today, as well.

I think they pretty much speak for themselves.

This is a picture of cherry blossoms in Japan.  I forget where this is, but I thought it was a beautiful picture that spoke of the transformative power of spring.

This came from Joss Whedon's twitter page a month or so ago.  I've always loved the relationship angle between these two characters; so, naturally, I kept this cover around.

A little silly, but it made me smile when I found it on Facebook.

There is more to slavery than black and white, and I think that's what I was thinking of when I saw this during Black History Month and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  We can become slaves to ideas, too, and I think it's important that we remember that.

And here's a bit of daily unicorn.  I found this on a webpage that was reviewing and giving details about a book; so, I'm assuming this might be part of a book cover?  In either case, I thought it was lovely.

A few public service messages from Facebook and Tumblr....  I just thought they were pretty funny.  Though I do say bacon bowls are awesome.

And these last two are for all of you Candy Crush addicts out there.  Hopefully they make you smile as much as I did when I found them.
