So last Friday I didn't get a chance to post up our usual This Week at +NASA video, and I feel like we all kind of missed out on a few things. There were a lot of test flights going on, preparations for the next ISS crew, the Dragon module returning with lots of experimental data and cargo from the International Space Station, and some enterprising college students helping to further our efforts at finding new ways and new technologies for space exploration. They'll also be taking a break at the end of this week for a little while. But have no fear! I'll be keeping an eye on the video feeds, and I'll do my best to keep you all up-to-date on all the happenings while the This Week @NASA crew is gone.
I caught an interesting story on MSN today about a place called "Lost City". It sounds like something right out of a video game, but it's actual history from the Florida Everglades. The article talks about how this place was likely a distillery for Al Capone, a once-Seminole Indian village, a hideout for Confederate soldiers after they stole some gold, and currently an archeological site in Florida's state archives. The place is also known as "Ghost Village", and if that doesn't conjure up some Tales from Crypt or Twilight Zone ideas for you, I don't know what else could.
Now, I will freely admit that John and I aren't really sports fans, but this TED Talk I want to share with you isn't just about sports. It's about augmented reality--a technological reality that is going to get more and more sophisticated as we learn new and better ways to use it. So Chris Kluwe thinks that we ought to start considering ways in which to use this technology not just for entertainment purposes where it's going to certainly garner revenue, but also in ways that could further benefit humanity as a whole.
And last, but not least, I want to leave you with what I believe is one of the most awesome 5-word speeches from the Webby's that happened over a week ago now.
Have a good rest of your week, everyone, and I'll catch up with you again on Wednesday!
